Magnesium (as magnesium glycinate)

Magnesium glycinate is one of the most absorbable forms of magnesium. Magnesium serves two roles in the formula. Sometimes when people have joint pain, muscles surrounding the joint can tense up trying to protect the joint from further injury and pain. Magnesium acts as a gentle muscle relaxant, to help calm down tense muscles. Magnesium is also a NMDA receptor antagonist. NMDA receptors are involved in generating the feeling of pain, so magnesium helps block that at the cellular level.

Bromelain (from Ananas comosus)

Bromelain is a plant extract from pineapple (Ananas comosus). It's a proteolytic enzyme, which means it breaks down proteins that cause inflammation and pain. Bromelain has been shown to reduce pain and promote a healthy inflammatory response. Clinical trials using bromelain in people with osteoarthritis showed a significant improvement in pain and increased joint mobility. 

Turmeric (Curcuma longa standardized extract)

Turmeric contains powerful antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties. Turmeric helps reduce inflammation at the genetic level. It decreases the activity of Nuclear Factor kappa Beta (NFk-B), which promotes inflammation. Blocking NFK-B decreases the inflammatory response. Clinical trials using turmeric in people with joint pain showed significant benefit.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera standardized extract)

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a class of plants called adaptogens. Adaptogens are a unique class of healing plants. They help balance, restore and protect the body. Ashwagandha is an ancient plant that has been used in traditional Asian medicine for thousands of years. Modern science has confirmed that Ashwagandha can provide significant benefit to people with joint pain.

Pine Bark Extract

Pine bark extract is rich in antioxidants. It can help promote a healthy inflammatory response and has been shown to help people with joint pain feel better. Pine bark extract inhibits the expression of cyclooxyrgenase-2 (COX-2) and interleukin-8 (IL-8), to proteins involved with creating pain and inflammation. 

Indian Frankincense (Boswellia serrata standardized extract)

Joint Relief is manufactured using an extract of Boswellia standardized to 30% 3-acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA). This was the amount used in clinical trials and shown to promote increased range of motion, increased pain-free activity and decreased discomfort in people with joint pain.

Rutin (from Sophora japonica)

Rutin is a plant pigment (flavonoid) found in fruits and vegetables. Rutin has powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Boron (as boron citrate)
